A bridge is a tool for replacing a missing or decayed tooth. This tool is used specifically if the surrounding teeth on each side only suffer from slight decay that has not yet affected their roots and overall structures.
How it’s done
Our skilled dentists will start by preparing the teeth on both sides of the decayed tooth by trimming off their surfaces, thus reducing them in size to get them ready for their crowns. After taking the necessary impression of the reduced teeth, a one-piece-bridge is custom-made and firmly placed to replace the missing tooth. This bridge is composed of two crowns called “abutments” which cover the reduced teeth, and surround an artificial tooth called a “pontic”. The advantage of installing a bridge is that it is extremely secure with no chances of mobility as the connected teeth on both sides fully support it. If there are not enough teeth present to support a bridge then creating a partial denture or implant is recommended.
